Join the VVMTA and Eagle County Open Space for a Site Visit of a Potential Reroute of the Water Tank Trail
You’re invited to join us in the field to review and discuss a potential reroute of the Water Tank Trail. This is a valuable opportunity to better understand the need for realignment and the current trail conditions driving this proposal. This is also an opportunity for Homestead residents to share their feedback on the proposed reroute.
Please understand that hiking the full potential alignment will be very challenging. The reroute travels through steep terrain, dense scrub oak, and off-trail sections that may be difficult or even impassable for some.
We plan to walk the existing trail alignment and visit accessible portions of the potential reroute. This approach will allow us to highlight areas of erosion and unsustainable grade, and illustrate why a new, sustainable alignment is necessary. The proposed reroute would help resolve issues like erosion and user conflict, while also providing a significantly more enjoyable and higher quality trail experience.
We hope you can join us for this important site visit and discussion. There will be three site visits throughout the summer:
June 23rd, 10:00-12:00
July 10th, 10:00-12:00
August 21st, 4:00-6:00
