Wildfire Prevention and Awareness Information

Representatives from the Eagle River Fire Protection District were present at the 2022 Annual HOA Meeting to give a presentation on promoting community wildfire awareness. They presented information about how the community is working as a whole on wildfire preparedness and prevention. They also talked about steps homeowners can take to protect their property. The ERFPD is offering free Personalized Home Fire Risk Assessments to any Eagle County residents. During a Home Fire Risk Assessment, members of ERFPD will visit your home, at a time convenient for you, and carry out an inspection of the inside and/or the outside of your home. These free visits focus on identification and awareness of the potential fire risks specific to your home, as well as what you can do to reduce or prevent the occurrence of a fire or other emergency situation. Please see links below for more fire safety and prevention resources.

At the April 2022 Board Meeting Tracy Erickson announced that the Eagle River Fire Protection District would like to do mitigation efforts on Homestead Open Space areas, as well as the Eagle County owned Homestead ā€œLā€ Open Space. The majority of our neighborhood is in a moderate risk zone, with some areas in a high risk zone. They would like to remove all vegetation down to 2 inches, including sage/pinions etc.

Eagle Valley Wildland will begin work on the wildfire mitigation project on the Eagle County owned Homestead ā€˜Lā€™ Open Space, as well as on a portion of Homestead Open Space beginning in May of 2024. The goal is to reduce fuels and improve eco system health in the open space areas, as well as create a buffer between the open space and residential areas. Click here see the map of the mitigation area (mitigation area is outlined in yellow).

A photopgraph of the local official (Fire Chief, Emergency Manager, etc) explaining this Community Connect program to your city.

We are always looking for ways to better serve the people of Eagle River. For this reason we are rolling out a new program to protect our residents and their property in the most effective way possible. Community Connect is a free, secure, and easy to use platform that allows you to share critical information about your household that will aid first responders and emergency response personnel when responding to your residence. By providing information about your household that you feel is important for us to know about at the time of an emergency, we can ensure you and everything you care about is protected to the best of our ability.
