Fire Danger Increased to Very High

A message from the Eagle River Fire Protection District:

Fire Danger has increased to VERY HIGH through the valley. We expect to remain at the VH rating into the weekend when a storm is predicted to arrive, hopefully bringing some reprieve to fire danger.

Over the next three days, we will be at near-red flag conditions with winds in the high 20s or low 30s mph, possibly gusts to 40 mph. We encourage the community to take extra precautions outside with the wind and low relative humidity.

Late Saturday night or early Sunday, a front is expected to pass. Current predictions show little chance of precipitation. However, we are hoping to see a rise in RH.

We will keep you updated on any changes or if the National Weather Service does issue a Red Flag Warning.
